While bidding our final adieu to our abode. We needed to empty the fridge and pantry. What better time than this to get creative and make what I call “Kitchen Sink” Salad!
Sometimes our salads look like we threw everything but the kitchen sink in our bowl! That’s okay, it’s always delicious. And yes, sometimes I am referred to as the “Garbage Disposal” in our house.
I hate to waste and let things spoil! Since we will be vacating our abode permanently, it’s definitely time for a “Kitchen Sink” Salad!
When making a salad, look to see what exciting little things you have on hand to spice things up ‘cuz VARIETY IS THE SPICE OF LIFE! We do this once a week at our house. Go through the fridge and use up what is close to expiring, rotate your usuals for what may become a “science project” if not used soon. Be creative, be daring and try something new.
Try lots of chopped fresh herbs * sprouts * lemon, orange & lime zest * walnuts * pine nuts * pecans * apple chunks * pomegranate seeds * orange slices * dried cherries, cranberries & blueberries * avocados * beets * mushrooms * grated carrots * jicama * purple cabbage * artichoke hearts * olives, etc. The possibilities are endless!
This is fun! Think of it as your own scavenger hunt! And you’ll be doing dual duty by cleaning out the fridge and pantry!
Eat up!
